www.horsetaillegacy.com/blog/This is the link to my blog section of my website. I have joined my local and state craftsmen guild and have attended two meetings. It is reassuring a sad way that all artist face the same problems. How to be seen and how to get people to value what you do and why something hand made is "expensive" compared to a mass produced item. Margaret Lee

Margaret Lee I think that the problem is that most people don’t realize how long it actually takes to make things by hand, on some of my items I am not even making minimum wage would they work for that? I don’t think so.

Thank you Dixie for letting me know that my blog is not allowing feed back I will Check into it.
I am making Jewelry for a side job. I am a Dentist in my real life. Talk about people not understanding what goes into things being handmade. Everything we do is handmade or hand done to some degree. I had the most upsetting thing on Weds with a guy screaming at my staff and throwing the F bomb in the reception area because it was going to cost money to fix is problem.
You guys are a great support Margaret Lee

Dixie, I just check with my web manager and the not letting comments has to do with something they are changing on their end. It may take a few days to correct the issue. It would be nice if you could try to post again say at the end of next week. Thanks Margaret

Margaret Lee A great way to help people to understand what goes into your craft is to walk them through it. Don't do a tutorial on your craft, but instead, help them to step into working beside you so they can see the level of care and expertise that they're paying for in their item. Ways you can do this is with a FAQ section, a photo walkthrough, a blog post, etc. You can even add a downloadable pdf to your website with more information on how unique your items are and why they're priced the way they are.

I've been trying to do that with mine. Only problem is I think everyone who looks is also an artisan and already "gets it".
