Hello everyone, my name is Joanna Barnes, known as Country Barnsie, and I am ever so proud of my little sister Katie Joy who has pioneered the way forwards with this forum. The arty side runs in the family I guess, she has branched off into Jewellery, and I am into paper crafting and needlework. I have opened up a card business, but will look to expand that into wall art eventually, card toppers most likely, and maybe more. I only do this part time, but my ethos is lets use what we have to make something amazing when possible. Recycle to recreate.
I like to try and use unusual materials for my art, currently I am experimenting with crisp packaging *clean of course!, as a material for die cutting with, and have just incorporated both that and some embroidery thread onto a seascape/beach scene card I am working on now. I think texture, depth, with different materials can all help to create a look and feel which is truly unique.
Plus I am just dead bored by all the so called 'handmade' cards the high street sells for silly prices. I don't think that en mass produced printed cards with a ribbon bow stuck on the front counts for hand made in my opinion. So I am up for promoting and helping the handmade art and craft community get back the true handmade produce to the marketplace.
Country Barnsie :0) x

Welcome to the forum, Joanna, and welcome to Etsy. Your cards are so pretty and so unique. I love that you use repurposed materials. Not only does it help preserve our little planet, but it inspires others to see the beautiful things that can be done with so-called leftovers and cast-offs. Way to go.
