Everything Rhi said is right. I am on twitter, and I see so many other etsy sellers ONLY tweeting about their shops to other etsy sellers. That is just pointless and a massive waste of time. Yep. I don't know where some of my followers came from. Lots of them are follow-backs from people I followed first, which makes them other jewelry or polymer clay people. So, I'm sort of tweeting to the choir, as it were, if I just share my etsy listings. And then there are the seemingly random ones who find and follow me first, like someone called shitonetsy. (really, that's their twitter name). Should I be offended by that follow? Bahahahaha. I am also following handmade groups that don't focus solely on jewelry. Will spend some time this weekend looking for folks that Rhi suggested. And btw, thanks for the follow, Rhi!

I saw a couple of these scam boards on Pinterest today. They had been flagged as a scam with a warning. Can these be reported to Pinterest powers-that-be?

So far Pinterest and Facebook are the only social media I am on. I simply don't have time to any more. I do have an occasional visitor from my Facebook page, but I don't have a lot of followers. Little by little I am gaining friends on my business page. I am not a big Facebooker in the first place, so not a huge presence there. I've had more traffic from Pinterest, and at least one sale that I know came from there.
I was encouraged to see KatieJoy's post at the beginning of this thread that it's best to choose a couple of platforms and do those well than to give a half-hearted effort on several. So I guess I'll be re-reading Rhi's tips on using Pinterest and try to build that one up since it seems to be marginally successful. I could use some advice for beefing up my store's Facebook page.;

I have a question. If you are picking what it the best way to know what to pick. I have facebook, I started my own website, I was leaning to blogging. After reading all this I don't know if blogging is the way to go. I have limit knowledge of pintrest and no idea about twitter. If I were to focus on one which should it be. My buyers are very niche since I make the jewelry from horse tail I need to contact horse lovers. I really don't know the best way to do that. Margaret

Margaret sorry for the delay in responding. where to find horsey people? social media is a game - and you need to learn the differnt techniques to 'win'. each platform has its rules & techniques twitter - you need to use # 's; think of them like key words, so for you that would be #horse #horsehair #horsejewelry just remember no gaps between words. and follow people who are into horses - in the hope they will follow you back & get the chance to see your tweets pinterest - create a board dedicated to horses; pin your work and horse related images; re-pin other peoples horse pins to the board; follow horse related boards; heart horse pins, people are nosey when they are re pinned or hearted they often go & take a look at the person and start following them facebook - its a great way to share images; news, videos, hold events; and talk to people blog - great for lots of different reasons - and have lots off different uses - we have a blog challenge/workshop starting in the new year, Professor Rhonda willbe running that - and im sure she could tell you more. you tube - a great way to show off your product - it would be a great way for you to create videos showing your customers how to 'collect & wash the hair' as to which one is best - its impossible to say; what works for one sop will not necisarily work for another;
